Long Tien Pagoda Festival

24th of the 3rd lunar month

The Long Tien Pagoda was built quite recently, in 1941, at the foot of Bai Tho (Poem) Mountain. It is the largest pagoda in Ha Long City.

Some locals say that every day is a festive day at the Long Tien Pagoda. Foreign and domestic tourists come to sightsee, while the faithful burn incense and recite prayers to Buddha; in particular, they arrive in greater numbers on the 1st and 15th days of each lunar month and for Tet holiday.

When spring comes, it is the festive season for the entire region. People come to burn joss-sticks and continue on a pilgrimage to Yen Tu Mountain, before finally participating in the Cua Ong Festival.
